The Royal
Society of Queensland (RSQ) was inaugurated
in
January 1884, with Royal patronage being
granted in 1885.
As the senior scientific organization in the
State, the Royal
Society, with its predecessor (The
Philosophical Society of
Queensland; est. 1859), has played an
important part in
scientific thought and endeavour in Australia
for nearly 150
years.
The aim of the Society is
"Increasing
awareness of natural
sciences in Queensland"
